Certamen Llobet 2018 | Presentation

Barcelona Internacional Guitar Contest Miquel Llobet

XV edition 2018 | November 8-11

Presentation

The XV edition arrives fulfilling the claim of the musical literature for guitar of Catalan, Spanish and Latin American authors and that will be defended in competition for young musicians from all over the world.

In the first qualifying phase, the contestants will interpret Miquel Llobet with his arrangement of the famous song Clavelitos, honoring the centenary of the disappearance of his author, Joaquín Valverde; as well as the centenary of Claude DebussyManuel de Falla  pays tribute to Homenaje a la tumba de Claude Debussy, the only guitar work of the Cádiz master motivated by his good friend Llobet.

The second semifinal phase, Frederic Mompou, on the 125th anniversary of his birth we present the work Canço i Dansa nº 13, introduces us to two Catalan popular songs, Cant dels ocells and Bon caçador from your personal language; and the work Aire indio nº 2 of the Bolivian composer, Eduardo Caba.

The last phase, the finalists interpret with string quartet the works of two young composers, the Argentinian Miguel Bareilles with the work Agua, which claims the relationship of man with water, and the Catalonian Moisès Bertran with the work Esguards Silents, expresses a child’s perception of the horror of war.

We think that the participants will draw a rich artistic experience with this repertoire, where the speaker of the work and its author will be key to its interpretation.

Eulogio Dávalos Llanos
Artistic Director
