Barcelona | January 19, 2025 | 6:00 p.m.
The Miquel Llobet Composition Competition starts again with a sixth edition that promises to be as exciting and interesting as the previous five.
The competition will count again with a jury formed by internationally recognized professionals in each of the specialties in which the jury is articulated: interpretation, composition specialized in the instrument and composition exogenous to the guitar praxis.
The contestants will have the pleasure to have their works reviewed by: Anders Clemens, Norwegian guitarist and professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Aragón, with an outstanding international career and winner of such important competitions as the Andrés Segovia. Alí Arango, Cuban guitarist-composer renowned internationally, winner of numerous international competitions such as the Francisco Tárrega and member of the Barcelona Guitar Trio with a regular performance at the Palau de la Música Catalana and Marcos Fernández, one of our most internationally renowned current composers. His works have been performed by the Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española, the Orquesta Nacional de España or the Columbus Symphony Orchestra among many others.
He has worked as a professor of composition at the TAI University in Madrid and founded a course in Theory and Composition at the Trinity Music Academy in London, where he was invited to be a member of the Royal Society of Arts in London for his work in the diffusion of music during his 12 years in the United Kingdom. Since 2019, he has been teaching at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona.
The competition, loyal to its mission and vision, and already internationally recognized, expects to surpass with this sixth edition more than three hundred works in its catalog, contributing in this way and through future activities, to the diffusion of today’s music and its creators.
